The Way of Wisdom

THE WAY OF WISDOM

God gave us the Bible so we could know Him. He wants us to understand His plans for the world. He wants us to live according to His purposes. By His Spirit, we can understand what the Bible says. By His Word, we know what He has promised. He makes His will known, so we can make wise decisions. By the Bible, we learn that God the Father and Jesus the Son are one. Through the Bible, we learn that God is sovereign over history. We learn to trust Him with the things we don’t understand.

The way of wisdom is found by seeking God and His ways. Here is a sampling of verses to consider:

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously without finding fault., and it will be given to you.  (James 1:5)

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.  (Proverbs 2:6)

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)

Remember the former things, those things of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’
(Isaiah 46:9-10)

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.                 (Isaiah 26:3)

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  (Psalm 46:1)

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  (Isaiah 46:10)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 4:6-7)

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  (Matthew 6:33)

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.  (Proverbs 30:5)

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you –they are full of the Spirit and life.  (John 6:63)

Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24)

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. Psalm 18:30 NIV
